There was a time where I felt completely lost and confused on what I wanted to do with my life. The pressure during senior year of college to immediately find a job was overwhelming. My friends were landing jobs at corporate companies and while I ended up finally getting a job at an agency, something
just didn’t feel right.
What I did know is that I didn’t want to live a mundane, boring life where I didn’t feel excited and inspired everyday. I didn’t want to live life on autopilot, just going through the motions just to earn a paycheck to buy useless things.
Working many different jobs, I learned that I really don’t like working for someone else. It’s not because I’m lazy and unmotivated. In fact, I’m the complete opposite and really dislike not having creative control.
During my junior year of college, I had the opportunity to study abroad and travel which gave me a ton of time to reflect and think about what career path I wanted to take. I’m 100% positive that if I didn’t give myself this opportunity to live in a different country, travel and challenge myself, I would not have the clarity I have.
Here are a few things that helped me discover what I was passionate about & some ways to help you discover what that is for yourself:
+ Visualization
I am a huge believer of visualization and the idea that thoughts turn into things. When there’s something I want to manifest in my life, I imagine what it would be like to have this thing (car, relationship, career) in my life. I really try and feel all of the emotions and imagine life with this thing or person in my life.
+ Mood board
Create a mood board of different careers + side hustles that interest you. Laying things out visually can help create some clarity.
+ Try different things
How do you know you love to blog if you’ve never actually created a blog? If there has been something that you’ve really wanted to pursue, pursue it! You’ll never know until you try. Personally, I have so many passions and projects in mind and plan to execute them ALL. If they fail, they fail – I learn and move on.
+ Self Awareness
Get on a mission to become really self-aware. Learn what you’re good at + what you’re not. Learn about your strengths and your weaknesses. When you become self-aware, finding your passion becomes that much easier.
